I don’t deal well with death, so in the past few years I’ve started painting posthumous portraits of people and pets. It’s my way of paying tribute to the deceased and for me to be part of that individual being remembered forever.

I have a love/hate relationship with faces and figures. They are how I started and what attracts me most,
especially eyes.

There is a lot of angst for me when I paint a portrait, whether it is a person, flower, animal or house, because, as I have read somewhere, and I’m paraphrasing here - “if it’s (the portrait) a little wrong, it’s all wrong”. I need to get it all correct. When I finally do, there is relief and joy. This is the best time for me as an artist.
