I still love photography. I used to feel that I was cheating by taking photos instead of painting. But now I feel that some of the images that I photograph just can’t translate as well into a painting as they do a straight photo. The best examples I can give you are the photos on this page. “Croes” for instance as a painting, would seem too contrived to me. The story behind this photo is a good one.

The three sheep photos are also exactly the same idea. They’d be cute paintings, but having actually caught the moment that the lamb, got up on it’s mother’s back, and was pawing and sniffing her, makes those images more genuine and endearing to me. Some of us didn’t know lambs behaved that way. The experience of seeing a crow land on a gravestone engraved “Croes” and that lamb jumping around and pestering it’s mother were not only unique and fortunate experiences for me, but for you too, because by taking that shot, I get to say to you “Hey, look at that”! And you get to see it too.
